Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring offers middle school students a unique opportunity to give back to their community by tutoring lower school students after school. While the program does provide community service hours, the true value lies in the friendships and mentorship that develop between the two students. Middle school students serve as positive role models, helping younger students not only with academics but with self-esteem and character development.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students meet for one hour in a designated safe space on campus, where they work on homework, reading, or enrichment activities together. The partnership lasts for a trimester, allowing for a meaningful connection to form. New partners are assigned regularly to provide students with a variety of experiences.
Why Join the Peer Tutoring Program?
Community Service Hours: Middle school students have the chance to accumulate valuable community service hours while making a meaningful impact in the lives of younger students. This experience not only fulfills service requirements but also enhances their leadership and mentoring skills.
Personalized Learning: Our lower school tutees benefit from individualized attention and support from their middle school tutors. These interactions foster a supportive learning environment where younger students can thrive academically and build their confidence.
Building Connections: The Peer Tutoring Program is about more than just academics. It creates a unique opportunity for friendships to blossom between students of different ages. As they work together, both tutors and tutees learn from each other, creating lasting bonds that enrich our school community.
Encouraging Growth: Middle school tutors serve as role models, helping to instill important values such as self-esteem, empathy, and resilience in their younger peers. This mentorship not only benefits the tutees but also enhances the personal development of the tutors.
Flexible Support: Whether it’s homework help, reading practice, or enrichment activities, our Peer Tutoring Program is designed to meet the varied needs of lower school students. Each session is tailored to provide the support that each tutee requires.
