Please join us for the second event in our CODI Cooking Series - Jamaican Stewed Peas!

This event has a suggested donation amount inclusive of your meal "kit," some fun add-on items, your recipe, and a Zoom cooking class! All "kits" will be built and ready for pick-up at school on Wednesday, January 27 just in time for the event (more details to come regarding pick-up time, pick-up safety protocols, etc.), and sign ups will close on Sunday, January 24!

One of the dishes that you won't find on the menu of every Jamaican restaurant, but will find made in many Jamaican households, is stewed peas! This dish utilizes the versatility of the humble bean and elevates it as an entree that is loved by most who try it. We think this dish is perfect for the mild Los Angeles winter and a great way to share our culture with the Wesley Community.

Suggested Donation: $25​ (Supporting the Wesley Community of Diversity and Inclusivity).​​ This suggested donation amount includes your Jamaican Stewed Peas kit (serves up to five), inclusive of the meat (black & kidney beans and smoked turkey) or veggie (black & kidney beans) option, rice, plantains, spices, onion, green onion, garlic, coconut milk, flour, all spice berries, and complete recipe card!​​​​​​​​​​​​

(Traditional Sorrel Punch - Sorrel is a festive holiday beverage enjoyed all over the Caribbean! The unique flavor combination of sorrel, the Jamaican name for the Roselle hibiscus flower, and seasonal spices is sure to become a new favorite tradition! You can serve it with or without alcohol.) - $15 without rum (serves 4-5); $20 with rum (serves 4-5). Please note the rum will be on the side so you the adults can add it, while the kids drink it virgin-style.​​​​​

For $70 we'll add this to your kit!​​ Please note, there is also the option of skipping the instant pot and cooking your beans ahead of time on the stovetop. Stovetop instructions will be included in your kit at pick up.
