We strongly recommend that you begin the admissions process by attending one of our Virtual Open House events. These are specifically planned and laid out to give you, the participant, a great look into The Wesley School. We invite you to join us online for a "tour" of our campus, including classroom snapshots and videos; to hear from students, faculty, and administrators; and to learn about the warmth, compassion, and learning environment of the Wesley community.
There will be four opportunities to attend an Open House: October 20, November 13, November 17, and December 8. Please visit the Admissions Events page for more information and to register.
The Application Process
Please visit the Application Process page on the drop down menu on our Admissions link. This page will provide step by step instructions and an online application to complete. Contact the School's admissions office at 818-508-4717 if you have any questions.
Kindergarten: During a typical school year, after the application and fee for a prospective kindergartener have been received, parents will be contacted by the admissions office to schedule the first group visit for your child(ren). The first visit will last about 45 minutes long, and includes both a child/parent activity, as well as separate activities for each. These groups include ten applicants, and are usually scheduled from November through January. Children will also be invited back for a second visit, where they will participate in a larger group setting. This visit will take place in mid-February. We feel very strongly that it can be challenging for children to come to a new environment and have that one visit give us a true reflection of who they are. We feel fortunate that we have the ability to have children come for two visits, as often they are much more comfortable the second time around, and we have the opportunity to get to know them better.
Please note that due to health and safety concerns, additional information about the evaluation process for kindergarten applicants is forthcoming.
1st through 5th Grades: During a typical school year, students applying to 1st-5th grade will be contacted by the Admissions Office as their application is received to schedule a partial visit day for their child. They will meet with the teacher of the grade that they are in currently, and 1st-4th grade applicants will complete assessments in math, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing.
Please note that due to health and safety concerns, additional information about the kind of testing required for 1st-4th grade applicants is forthcoming.
5th Grade: During a typical school year, all students applying for 5th grade and above must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).
Please note that we will no longer be requiring the ISEE test for those applying to 5th through 8th grades.
Parents of all applicants will be called for an interview with an admissions officer.
Please note that based on health and safety guidelines, as well as varying comfort levels at this point, parent interviews will most likely take place virtually. We will of course re-evaluate this as the trajectory of the pandemic unfolds.
