Application Process

This page will provide you with step-by-step instructions for completing the application process to The Wesley School for your child(ren). Please pay special attention to the different requirements for the each of the grade levels. The deadline for Fall 2018 applications has passed. Please email admissions@wesleyschool.org if you are interested in submitting a late application.

Applications for Fall 2019 will be available online in late August.

Step 1: Complete an online application - The deadline for fall 2019 applications is January 18, 2019.

For All applicants:

Photo Submission Form
This form should be completed and mailed directly to the school with the photos requested.

For Kindergarten applicants:

Teacher Evaluation Form
Please give to your child's current teacher for completion between December 1 and January 31.

For 1st Grade applicants:

Teacher Evaluation Form
Please give to your child's current teacher for completion between December 1 and January 31.

Administrator Recommendation Form
Please give to your child’s current school office for the Principal or Head of School to complete. Not required for students applying from public schools.

Transcript Request Form
Please fill out, sign as parent/guardian, and then give
to your child’s current school to be forwarded to us, along with your child's official school records.

For 2nd through 5th Grade applicants:

Teacher Recommendation Form
Please print two copies of this form and give one to your child’s current teacher and one to your child’s teacher from last year for completion between December 1 and January 31.

Administrator Recommendation Form
Please give to your child’s current school for the Principal or Head of School to complete. Not required for students applying from public schools.

Transcript Request Form
Please fill out, sign as parent/guardian, and then give to your child’s current school to be forwarded to us, along with your child's official school records.

For 6th through 8th Grade applicants:

Common English Recommendation Form
Please give to your child's current English teacher.

Common Math Recommendation Form
Please give to your child's current Math teacher if different than above. If your child currently has the same teacher for math and English, please give the math form to his/her previous grade-level teacher.

Common Administrator Recommendation Form
Please give to your child's current school for the Principal or Head of School to complete. Not required for students applying from public schools.

Common Transcript Request Form
Please fill out, sign as parent/guardian, and then give to your child's current school to be forwarded to us, along with your child's official school records.

Middle School Questionnaire
In addition to the list just above, please have your child complete this questionnaire in his/her own handwriting before mailing to us.

Step 3: Student School Visits and Student and Parent Interviews

Parents of kindergarten applicants will be contacted by the admissions office to schedule a group visit of ten students per group. These will take place between November 1 and January 31. A second, large group visit will take place in mid-February when students will come in groups of 14 to 16 students. The admissions office will contact you at the end of January to confirm this second visit. All parents will also meet with the Director of Admissions to complete their parent interview.

Parents of applicants to 1st through 5th grades will be contacted by the admissions office to schedule partial-day visits for the children. We do our best to coordinate the applicant visits and parent interviews on the same day.

Parents of middle school applicants will be contacted to schedule an applicant interview with one of our middle school teachers and a parent interview with the Middle School Head. These interviews are coordinated at the same time, and the visit includes a school tour for the applicant, given by a current middle school student.

Step 4: Assessments and Testing

  • Kindergarten – See above under Step 3.
  • 1st through 4th grade – During the visit day (explained above), applicants will spend one-on-one time with one of our learning specialists to complete an assessment in math, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing.
  • 5th through 8th grade – Applicants to 5th-8th grade take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). This test is designed to assess a students’ academic achievement and is produced by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB).
  • In order for The Wesley School to receive your child’s test scores, be sure to use Wesley’s school code, 054283.
  • To register for the ISEE, click here.
  • The Wesley School offers the ISEE on campus on Saturday, November 3, 2018, Saturday, January 26, 2019 and Saturday, February 23, 2019.
