Speech and Performance

Students are graded on improvement in the following areas:

Makes good eye contact with viewers

Makes a connection with the audience and engages viewers attention

Volume and Projection: Speaks loudly enough to be heard

Enunciates clearly

Eliminates “fillers” such as “um”, “uh”, “like” and“ya know.”

Uses correct grammar

Incorporates gestures and movement appropriately

Pace and rhythm flow slowly and evenly

Written Work

Students are also graded on their written work:

Ideas in written material are clearly organized

Subject is researched when applicable

Displays a focus or point of view

Displays relevant information

Demonstrates content knowledge

Conveys a message or purpose

Includes an Introduction, transitions in thought, and a conclusion

Language and grammar are appropriate

Words are spelled correctly
