6th-8th P.E.

August / September

In the next couple of weeks we will be working on the following.

*7th - 8th grade.
1. Instant warm up activity or jogging with a pre-determined # of minutes 5-min.
2. Social skills activity for 8min.
3. Fitness activity( student leaders will lead exercises like push ups, jumping jacks,
etc..).or Dance for 10min.
4. Motor slicks practice,movement concept, lead up game, or assessment - 3min.
5. Closure/Debrief for 3 min.

We will work on this items from the list above for all three trimesters in random order.

We will also work on the items from the list below.
* Unit Establish a classroom environment
Including: boundaries,rules/expectations in PE.
7th - 8th Grade will work on reinforcing fundamental skills for after school sports.

We will pick teams for the first trimester.
Here are some of the fundamental skills that we will be covering from the list below.
* Passing
* Catching
* Kicking
* Game situations offense and defense.
* Lead up to modified games in seasonal sports.

Here are the list sports that we will work on: Flag games,football basketball and ultimate frisbee.

Test this month: 5 lap test. Military run
* Playground rules.
We will cover all play ground rules, game,areas, and good sportsmanship.
We will also cover any new rules and changes.
Objective /Subjective
The students will learn safety procedures in-case of an emergency.
They will learn good sportsmanship- skills for winning and losing.
7th, 8h, we will reinforce fundamental skills.
They will learn to play in game situations on offense and defense.
They will receive reinforcement in after school sports

October/ November
In the couple of weeks we will be working on the following.
* We have worked on low impact cardiovascular class activities
* We have been working on strengthening and building endurance for the up coming presidential-
national testing.


* We have been working on trowing, trying to catch a ball while moving
through designated space. We have also worked on flag pulling.
* I have explained game rules and game situations
* we will be playing modified seasonal games.

* I will reinforce participation and good sportsmanship.

Objective / Subjective
The students will continue to improve on refining their skills seasonal sports.
They will reinforce their ability to catch, trow.
They continue to work on motor -skills.
The y will work with partners in class activities.
They will receive training for up coming national - presidential test.
Participation and test.
Class Participation. Test.
Military run. Sit ups.
The clock mile. Mile run.
3-4 lap warm up. V-sit.
Wind sprints. Pull -up.
Please Note: Your student must participate in the class activities and test to pass this class.
If your student has missed any items from the list mentioned above, it is very
important they complete what they have missed before the trimester ends.

Failing to complete any of the items, your student will receive a negative grade.

December / January

In this next few weeks we will be working on the following from the list below.

1.We will be picking new teams for seasonal sports.
2.We will be reinforcing soccer and basketball fundamentals. Which includes
kicking,trapping,dribbling,passing and catching.
3.we will be working on a jump rope unit, we will reinforce proper form. forward
entry reverse entry and fundamental jumping skills.
4 We will be taking the following test: The V-sit. shuttle run and we will be

detesting for the mile.

Objective / Subjective.
We will be reinforcing fundamental skills in seasonal sports.
We will be reinforcing proper form for jumping.

We will pick new teams for the students to work as team with different students.

UNIT:Kicking and trapping,

INCLUDING: stopping the ball with the bottom of their foot,the side of of the foot inside and out. controlling a dribble with their feet, how to pass with with accuracy.

Class activities: manipulative skills games using different size peaces of equipment. kicking with a partner, kicking to a stationary target's.

Games: Protect the goal line

JANUARY UNIT: Wesley fitness month

In this unit we will be covering several fitness related activities. We will be working on Jog-a-thon prep. Running for endurance, relay races.

We will be testing for Presidential and National testing. all the test will be performed on campus, all test are participation grade affective. which means that you have to take the test to pass this class.

The test are: The shuttle run, mile,pull-up test, sit up test, and the V-sit.

We will also work on the items from the list below,

* 14 min run

* Upper body, core and lower body work outs.

* Clock mile

Objective/ Subjective

They will reinforce their locomotor skills as well as their movement concepts. They will take five test for Presidential & National testing

They will work on endurance activities, students need to take all five test in order to pass this class even if they are not trying to qualify for a presidential award.



February
We will finish the jump rope unit with the all classes performing their routines
We will work on cardiovascular activities since February is American heart month.
We will be working on the following test for National presidential testing.
* The mile
* Shuttle run
* Pull up test

We will have play-offs for seasonal sports.

March- April
Unit: National nutrition month
Including: food chart, what we eat, calorie intake, evaluate the energy
value of foods. We will also work on seasonal sports: Baseball, volleyball
for after school sports we will be covering the following.
Volleyball and Baseball
Ready position,court movement,overhand serving,underhand serving,blocking,
overhand pass over the net,over hand pass to a partner,basic game situations

and game play, Lead- up and modified games.

Standard 1. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 1.4,1.5, ( 6 & 7TH ),1.2,( ) 1.4. ( 8TH).

May / June

Unit: Striking that includes striking standing small and large targets. Class activities that enhance their ability try to hit a standing target when their body is motion. we will use handball's,bean bags, cones,.

Seasonal sports:Volleyball, Baseball, kick ball and handball for striking which include's the following.

* Athletic stance

* Throwing and Catching

* Pitching ( slow pitch )

* Striking a moving target ( a baseball )

* Over hand and under hand serves

* Passing, striking, and blocking

We will use the same standards for kickball the rules change just little bit but will follow most of the baseball rules.

Team building activity: Team handball the teams have to work together to score in a small goal. They have to pass the ball within 3 seconds, the ball can only bounce once on a team members pass. The players can move with three small or big steps to avoid being trapped. With this game we will cover the following.

* Passing and trowing

* Team building

* defensive and offensive strategies.

* Participation and effort

Objective / Subjective: students will learn or practice skill's of striking standing targets as well as moving targets. They will learn the correct form of atheletic stance, team building, they will practice modified games in seasonal sports.
