Name Zentangles

Students in third grade will learn what a zentangle is and be able to create one using their name. A zentangle is considered to be a form of artistic meditation. The compositional space is divided and then patterns are included in all spaces. The goal is allow oneself to get lost in the moment. Zentangles can help with focus and relaxation. The students will fill their paper with their name and then create a different pattern in each separate area. To finish students can add color using markers and colored pencils.
