Announcement from The Wesley School Board of Trustees
Message from the board
This 2018–2019 school year will be John Walter's last year as Head of School at The Wesley School. We recognize and value John's distinctive character and spirit, and we look forward to working with him as we embark on this next stage of our time together. We thank John for his considerable contributions to Wesley over the last eight years and look forward to his continued leadership and example during his final year at Wesley, our 20th anniversary year. Under John's direction we have seen significant growth here, including the construction of the Arts and Administrative Building and the transition to full registration of two classes per grade level across the school. We are deeply appreciative of these accomplishments and efforts on behalf of our children, and for John's leadership through a period of great change here at the school.
As a Board, we have never been more optimistic about the future of our school. Our Faculty and Staff are second to none, and we are committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to build on their excellence. We offer an exceptional education for all of our students, and exceptional value for parents choosing an independent school in Los Angeles. We have grown at a manageable pace over the past eight years, and our long range plan is to maintain our distinctive qualities while continuing to build on our strengths: academic excellence through an adaptive and responsive curriculum, character development emphasizing social and emotional learning, a safe and engaging environment, and a diverse and inclusive community of actively supportive parents and teachers.
The happiness and success of our matriculating students in their chosen high schools and the number of new families applying for admission demonstrate the effectiveness of our program. We intend to continue building on these achievements as we transition to a new Head of School in 2019-2020.
